This is the view from the now West Hill Road area of Ryde looking towards Holy Trinity church, the distant row of houses is Monkton Street and meadows stretch down from it to Monkton brook obscured by trees.
This is the Appley near Ryde in the late 18th century, large private estates ran down to the water's edge.

This building still exists at the junction of George Street and Cross Street, for many years it housed the Taj Mahal Restaurant, but recently has been taken over by Wight Home Care.

The Sun Inn at Hulverstone, once a lovely country pub taken over and
then closed to be converted to a private house. However, the
locals
fought
back and it has now been re-opened. Good job too!
