The above picture of Shanklin seafront was for a Victorian Stereoscope,
which when placed in the special viewer, gave a 3-dimensional view of
the
subject, albeit in black and white. I've played around with the
picture
as well, the image on the left has been computer enhanced, the right
untouched.

Come on all you cyclists and join me at the Royal Pier Hotel, Ryde
on Friday October 9th, for a slap up meal and a talk by my host, whose
name I can't remember. I don't know what year it was either
because
it wasn't on the Invite. They also knocked the Royal Pier Hotel
down
in 1932 and built a traffic roundabout at the bottom of Union
Street.
I think I'm loosing it here slightly, I'll just get on my bike and I'll
be off, thank goodness there was plenty to drink.

Forward to the sunny 1960's and to Brook House Hotel, Binstead,
Ryde.
It got closed as well and a little residential development sits behind
it now. Nice bar though, even if its rather vacant. I've
always
been suspicious of empty bars,
where is everybody?

Need
I say more!
Looking forward many years from now when intrepid heroes from the
Isle
of Wight, male and female, venture out from our solar system across the
empty tracts of space in search of adventure, new civilizations and
clean
underwear. A little starmap will be fixed to the visors of their
spacesuits to steer them through the distant reaches of space.
